KUPL + new ownership = New jingles! Today Portland’s KUPL begins to air their very own version of our KSON package throughout Greater-Portland, Oregon and the surrounding Willamette Valley.
The themes from this package are uniquely mixed out into guitar-driven versions, traditional Country inspired versions featuring dobro, mandolin or pedal steel, and thinner acoustic guitar-led versions. The 10 music themes are rounded out with a morning cut for KUPL’s Lee and Alana as well as a weather cut lifted from our JR FM package.
Y’all know we got love for the KWJJ as their airing our 100.7 The Wolf package and now KUPL are part of the family. Daddy can’t pick favorites but can be proud that both are sounding as great on-air with awesome jingles.

On this the 7th Day of September we are thrilled to announce a major new project we have been developing with the Heart Network. If you are a regular follower of this blog you’ll know that there are now 33 Heart stations in the UK all sporting our custom Heart Network Music Imaging package which can be found here.
We work closely with the talented team at Global Radio on a variety of projects and one of the major things we have in common with the guys over the pond is the desire to keep the music fresh and up to date and this can be heard in our re-image of Heart Breakfast today.
From this morning all Heart stations are running new breakfast music themes and new versions of our light-hearted breakfast songs. The cuts break down into a variety of different elements, top of hour cuts, out of break IDs, ramps and promo beds. Each site has the name of it’s host or hosts sung on both cuts and as you can imagine this has been a major job!
Have a listen to a variety of the cuts and sings for the main anthems…
London’s Number 1 Hit Music Station, Global Radio’s95.8 Capital FM have been airing our latest custom produced radio ID package for some time now and it is FINALLY time to share it with the rest of the world!
The package is built on 16 music themes in bed, ramp and out of break form alongside a news, weather and travel sequence for all your top of hour needs. In addition, there are 3 breakfast themes and a comprehensive bespoke kit for Capital’s promotion of the Summertime Ball that has been delivered completely deconstructed to build up into promos for just about anything one might need.
The following blurb was posted at the conclusion of the marathon vocal recording sessions held March with vocalists and delegates here from London, Dallas, Philadelphia and Seattle:
After months of planning, writing and recording IQ Beats are extremely proud to announce our latest custom music-imaging package for the world famous 95.8 Capital FM is now on air.
When new owners Global Radio took the reigns of one of the most well know stations in the world, it was their top priority to get the station moving forward once again. After getting a vision from Director of Broadcasting Richard Park, it was onto the plane for Steven, Patrick and Michael and a visit to the legendary studios in London’s Leicester Square to spend the day at Capital and really get a feel for the station.
It was an unusually early start for the boys (not normally seen till lunchtime), but well worth it after the good times sitting in with Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon on the Capital Breakfast Show
The brief was taken from Capital’s Programme Director Paul Jackson and over the course of the project we have been incredibly fortunate to have nearly unlimited access to Richard Park and Group CEO Ashley Tabor, both of which have provided valuable input on this project. Access to so many experienced and passionate individuals has resulted in what can only be described as a breathtaking array of cuts, beds, logos, talk-overs and IDs with our 95.8 Capital FM package for 2009 being one of our strongest to date.
Check out the original post here for some fun pictures from the session too.

This thing is just getting started folks, so check back in a bit or make it a no-brainer and subscribe to our RSS feed.
We here at IQ don’t do a whole lot of non-jingle related posts, but the passing of Michael Jackson has become an especially momentous event for us. Emotional even.
After seeing all the news drama unfold, the ensuing flood of clips of old classic MJ footage, the emotional outpourings from fans, and listening to impromptu tribute shows on the radio devoted to the pop music master, etc., it made a composer or two here at IQ reflect for a second and realize just how much he’s influenced our own music - Both commercial and otherwise.
Besides having the brilliant help in production and writing from Quincy Jones on some of his most influential records, Michael’s performance, conviction and delivery of songs changed the music world forever. There’s only a handful of souls in this world who have that kind of magic. Michael is one of those people. He was our generations Elvis. Or John Lennon. Or Charlie Parker.
RIP MJ.
P.S - The next time I find myself at a casual club residency gig somewhere. And it’s 1:45am. And we’ve all had probably a lot too much to drink. And for a lark, we start playing an impromptu cover of Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, nothing will have changed… People are gonna get down and dance their M*th*rF*ck*n’ asses off!!!!!! Thank you Michael.
More, more, more. Package III is currently in development. We’ll keep you posted. Hear Fun Radio I and Fun Radio II here and here respectively. Maybe ready by Bastille Day. Still and always Fun.
Props to Paul and Michiel at Music and Images/Jingle Director for enabling and maintaining this ongoing relationship. Un baiser pour vous!
This morning at 6am GMT nine more stations in the Global Radio portfolio re-branded to Heart, completing the roll out of the brand to 33 of their broadcasting areas. This is tremendously exciting for all of us at IQ Beats and quite an accomplishment for both the Heart brand and Global Radio.
We have been working on the imaging package that has been deployed across the brand since April last year with updates at regular intervals since. Whew!
In case you don’t know what this is all about, here is a link to the custom Heart package from 2008 that is the foundation aligning all the stations in the network to feature one music imaging identity.

It got us wondering about the individual IQ breakfast packages that all Heart stations are now running. We have now re-sung our breakfast anthems for Heart 33 times. That is 33 sets of presenters for 33 local breakfast shows… Quite an achievement. Here is just a small sampling:
Breakfast Anthem 1 montage
Breakfast Anthem 2 montage
Finally, we are also thrilled that IQ Beats music imaging has been used in the brand new Heart TV commercial rolling out across the UK from this weekend. The use of one of our Heart music themes really shows the strength and versatility of the package to perform exquisitely on both radio and TV.

Many thanks to everybody at Global Radio that we have worked so closely with over the past few months on the Heart project. Keep checking back for updates to our continuously growing Heart Network imaging package or simply contact us to get a version of your own!
As Wimbledon (the greatest tournament in tennis) gets fired up, so does 5 Live with a brand new custom imaging piece from IQ Beats to compliment and showcase their coverage. Following shortly behind is a bespoke theme for the 2011 Rugby World Cup qualifier matches soon to be captivating the interest of UK rugby fans. Also coming soon are a theme for horse racing and an interactive bed.
In looking back we’ve realized that we forgot to share a theme produced last year for 5 Live’s “Life’s Not Rehearsed” segment featuring presenters talking about their most memorable moments in live commentary. Check out the past and present themes below and check back soon for more.
As well as gearing up for the launch of the next set of Heart stations around the UK, our friends at Global Radio have been busy launching a brand new show presented by former Spice Girl Emma Bunton (who I had a major crush on).
Emma has joined Heart to present the Friday drivetime slot in London and a new music-based show on all the Heart stations in the network on Saturday afternoons. Check out a Q&A with Emma on Heart’s website here.
We were thrilled when given the challenge to create a little extra IQ sparkle for Emma with a quick turnaround of just a few days. The whole team pulled together to create a piece of work we are all very proud of - A brand new theme that has the flavor of Heart with a touch of Spice Girls retro. Spice up your life!
Check out the main ramp mix below or head to IQ Beats.com and check out all the mix-outs here.
